“Biao Youngest Sister is so intelligent.” Luo Qian exclaimed, “To even think of such a method.”

Shen Miao let Luo Ling summon all the available people in the residence, and then gathered the commoners on the streets and at the same time lit up all the torches. After learning that the empty city tactic was thought up by Shen Miao, Luo Sui valued Shen Miao more. Shen Xin was naturally very proud, and kept boasting that his unmarried daughter was far better than a male.

Two days later, Luo Sui announced to the entire Luo family, that the Luo family’s army would be reorganised.

The entire Xiao Chun City was cheering, and those who were running around to tell, were the juniors of the Luo family as they were very excited. Shen Miao’s heart jumped and she nodded her head slowly as she looked at Luo Tan, “I know about it.”

“You have heard of the news before, that Little Marquis Xie kept on winning victories and the Xiong Nu were forced to the desserts.” Luo Tan said, “Everyone kept saying that when the Little Marquis return back to the capital, one fear that his meritorious services will be higher than those of the Marquis of Lin An. His Majesty will definitely reward him with a high ranking title.

These words were not false. Not long after Shen Miao reached the Xiao Chun City, Xie Jing Xing also lead the Xie family’s army into Northern Jiang. Xie Jing Xing’s brave performance on the battlefield was simply amazing, no matter if it was in military formations or fighting one on one, he was so fierce and cold, that even the enemy feared him upon hearing his name. One initially thought that Xie Jing Xing would not be able subdue the Xie family’s army but they were however able to surprisingly produce repeated achievements, making others put away the last bit of suspicion of Xie Jing Xing. Everyone all said that Xie Jing Xing would be the most outstanding male in Ming Qi, and would definitely supersede the Marquis of Lin An. When Shen Xin and Luo Sui discussed about this, they poured praises on Xie Jing Xing, saying that he was an exceptional talent of this world. Because Shen Miao knew of Xie Jing Xing’s ability in her past life, she was already jaded to it.

As Shen Miao was in a trance thinking about it, it seemed that she wanted to differentiate if this was a joke or reality. However what flashed in her brain was that day in Guang Wen Tang’s courtyard, little rice dumpling deceived her out and a youth with noble airs walked out from the forest. That youth was wearing an ivory robe trimmed with silver thread, handsome and dashing as he elegantly walked to her, step by step.

His lips hooked up to a naughty smile, and his peach blossom eyes’ had an expression of a smile but not a smile, which was very intoxicating. Three tenths of the time he was teasing, six tenths of the time he was testing, and one tenth he was just a dissolute youth.

He said, “So it was you.”

    • i felt really really upset when I read the last few paragraphs. then i went to novelupdates and read the genres and tags. It has “romance” and “handsome male lead” in it. So, how can you guys think he died?

      • Exactly. But you just have to go with the flow ok? When reading a story you’ll forget that if one of the main characters die then the story won’t progress. But if you think about it carefully then it doesn’t even make sense

    • To say that it would wound her heart, I don’t think its to that extent. Currently, SM and XJX really only has a relationship between someone they should watch out for. A chess piece that might threaten their plans. Sure they had a bit of moments but currently SM is most probably only feeling that everything that she’s trying to prevent will eventually come true like in the past.

  4. awww it looks like shen mao has feelings of xxj too for her to be thinking of the moment when they first met. that scene she recalled at the end reminds me of the on in ten miles of peach blossoms where ye hua went up to bai qian and said so you are bai qian of qing qiu. so cute!

  15. Her previous life was really tragic. She did everything for the sake of gaining her husband’s love and approval at the expense of her family’s lives and eventually her children’s. (sighs) From the way the novel is going, I would have loved for Pei Lang to be the lead, but we all know it isn’t because of the way the author always lovingly describes Xie Jing Xing, and now he’s dead, but is he really? What is going on? He’s victorious then all of a sudden he dies? Impasiburo!!! Arggghhhh!!!!

    • Tsk, don’t you remember that Pei Lang played a part in her death? He schemed with that prince or whatever so the chances that he knew about SM’s role as a pawn is high!

      • Pei Lang is a little weak and easily led rather than someone who could lead, like Xie Jing Xing. But the problem is I just want our empress to live a happier life after she gets her revenge on all the people who wronged her, so it might not be Pei Lang I should’ve endorsed but someone of his status at least. Intrigues in the palace led to her death in her previous life so the least she could do after getting her revenge is staying as far away from palace intrigues as possible. Then again, she wouldn’t be the empress we now all know and love. *sighs* The dilemma. Ah well… and besides you also forgot. Pei Lang wasn’t there when Shen Miao was executed. If he was, do you really think Shen Miao would have let Pei Lang live past chapter 100? XD Shen Miao could have used any other scholar to spy on Fu Xiu Yi, but she specifically still had Pei Lang, who was Fu Xiu Yi’s adviser in Shen Miao’s previous life, and planted him as her spy in Fu Xiu Yi’s court. 🙂

  17. Meh… i am beginning to think that in the past… xjx had pretended to be dead. So on second life of shen miow. I mean his corpse was skinned. Would it be much better if his face was showned on the corpse… i am guessing it is a plan to go in shadow to throw the current kingdom down.

  18. Guess he’s trying to change side to another country? I don’t remember that well but I’m sure in early chapters it was mentioned that XJX went to some country. Maybe with the help of another country he will conquer Ming Qi and execute the imperial family lol.

  22. Interesting, it’s looking more and more like XJX faked his death. After all, he’s the ML.

    The intro of this story is about XJX telling Shen Miao that the world belongs to her. And that she belongs to him. He hasn’t even made that proposal yet, so there’s no way he’s dead.

    XJX probably knows that the Ming Qi Imperial Family plans to annihilate the leading aristocratic families. Maybe he’ll fake his death so he has more freedom to do his other plans.

    Then when the problems of Ming Qi are resolved, he can come over and take it over in one fell swoop. He’s the child of a princess after all. If the other princes and imperial uncles are offed or considered inadequate to rule, then he has succession rights to be Emperor. Someone like XJX who has such capabilities won’t be content to be ruled over.

    1. Is a “Fei” rank (not the four consorts) higher or a “Furen” rank, the one Mei Furen has?
    2. Why is Xie Ding’s concubine Madam Fang called “Madam” rather than “Yiniang”? Concubines aren’t called by their family names unlike legal wives right? Plus her status hasn’t been elevated.

    • 1. Fei is a rank. Furen is also a rank but I am not sure at this dynasty how is the ranking is like. I would presume Furen is below Fei/Consort rank
      2. Not sure if she is a Yiniang rank but Madam is not a rank, its more like calling them with their maiden surname (Mrs vs madam)

  47. That was pretty quick, the news of his death. It’s one of those rare moments when Miao has a flashback from this life. I feel she started to feel some sense of… camraderie.. for XJX. Her kids loved him and she saw first hand how black bellied he was. For her to be unmoved by the news would be weird. I wonder if she would keep the coat now, if she knew it belonged to him.

    Why doesn’t the Luo fam write to the emperor about the attack and ask for some funds?
