Chapter 88: Soft-hearted (Part 2)

If someone was stabbed with this hairpin, it would definitely tear a big piece of flesh off.

For instance, the wound at Xie Jing Xing’s arm.

Xie Jing Xing even had a conjecture that Shen Miao dealing with Prince Yu was perhaps because of the ‘thing’ he currently had.

But how did she knew about it? Even he and Gao Yang only came to be aware of it and also spend a lot of energy. Shen Miao was an unmarried daughter and it would be very inconvenient to investigate the matter but she knew about the secret. The secrets she had were no less than others.

“In short, it is better to be careful.” Gao Yang stood up, picked the remaining bandages and medication up and headed out, “Moreover now she has discovered my identity, one would not know what kind of changes there will be in the future.”

In Rong Jing Tang, Old Shen Furen had a gloomy expression as she looked towards Shen Gui and said, “So to say, there is no way to release Qing girl?”

I will seriously investigate the matter and would not let Younger Sister to be wrongly accused for no reason.”

When Old Shen Furen heard of this, her eyes warmed up. Out of all her grandchildren, she loved the youngest grandson Shen Yuan Bo the most, but was the proudest of this young and extremely capable Shen Yuan. Moreover Shen Yuan had always delighted her so she nodded her head, “Since it is so, you should investigate it well. If Qing girl is really innocent, I naturally do not wish for her to be wrongly accused.” Pausing, she also sneered at Ren Wan Yun, “But I see that your mother is really possessed, if her mind is really not clear then do not go out. Stay in the residence and give me less problems.”

Ren Wan Yun’s status in the residence had plummeted, and disregarding Shen Qing’s pregnancy before marriage, now the involvement with the case of the extermination of the Prince Yu entire household make matters worse.

Shen Yuan did not know why but he suddenly remembered that day when Shen Qing was married, he spoke to Shen Miao and Shen Miao said this at that time, “No one can say for sure what will happen in the world. Some people may have the luck of misfortune but it could be that there is no more road in front.”

Now, there is no more road in front of Shen Qing and even if there was a road, it would be extremely difficult. Only she was left alive in the entire Prince Yu residence and just this point, Shen Yuan had saw it clearly that the person did not leave Shen Qing life as it is because of being soft hearted. By leaving a life, it became Shen Qing’s talisman to press for her death.

Dying in a household massacre and dying under murder charges were totally entirely different things.

It was obvious that the perpetrator deliberately put Shen Qing in such a difficult situation, but Shen Qing was just a little young female. Who would be so ruthless to such a young female?   2. YESSS I’m always elated when Xie Jing Xing gets to make an appearance. Gao Yang says his identity is revealed, but other than being a doctor and close friends with ML, doesn’t he still have another that we don’t know about? Hmm, anyways one thing I’m dying to know is when Shen Miao and Xie Jing Xing gets together, do they have fluffy scenes? It’d be nice if they had some passion for one another since they’re so cold to each other right now. TT^TT

    Wait what? Is this foreshadowing Shen Yuan’s downfall? Or is it just over-dramatizing his failure to investigate Shen Miao? I’m hoping it’s the former. Shen Miao knows better than to leave this bastard of a cousin alive. Have to cut off the weeds by the roots, because they’ll come back otherwise.

    Even Shen Qing suspected it was Shen Yuan. I’m guessing the authorities will lock up Shen Yuan on the second day. Maybe Shen Miao even asked the Chen family to plant evidence that would implicate him beyond reasonable doubt.

    After all, Shen Yuan destroyed Shen Qiu in the previous lifetime. He’s also plotting against Shen Miao and the rest of the First Household. There’s no way she’ll leave him a way out.

    What a zugzwang against Ren Wan Yun, if that happens: she’ll lose both her children and will go even more crazy. (If it weren’t for Shen Yuan Bo, Shen Gui would divorce her asap. Then again, Empress might target that kid in the end. He’ll be raised to hate the First Household after all).

    Empress’ insight is really deep. It shows her lifetime of navigating these bloody schemes. It shows how much thought she’s put into this. Hohoho, I bet most things will be in her calculation. Except for… the romance with Xie Jing Xing!

  17. YES! Finally his road has been blocked the moment he entered this residence once again. Now I cant wait to see the declining state of the 2nd household. Will it be bloody and gory? Or will it be neat and fast? Would his past misdeeds about the fallen extermination of the 1st household be revealed? Kya cant wait!! If XJX knew this, what would he think? Would he be interested in this or not?

    I just wish that he would have more interactions with her since its always lively when he’s around. As the author describe, even we cant get enough of him! So hurry soon with that budding flowers of feelings XJX! Add oil! *^*

    • I think he is 18. I think it was mentioned in the chapter where they met in the peach orchard. Sometimes four years is a world apart. And mentally she is much older than him. How old was SM when she died? Somewhere in her thirties?

  37. Just caught up, what a whirlwind of events!! I’m so happy Prince Yu got his comeuppance 😊 and is that XJX’s heart being softened for our little empress??? Can’t say I enjoy him choking her, at all, but it’s expected considering he has so many secrets….besides, they really have no feelings between them as of yet. It’d actually be weirder and out of character if he didn’t try to kill her.

  40. The previous chapter tackled the issue I was worried about: Shen Miao being the same overpowered stoic girl as in every other novel of this type. It helps the reader car about what happens to her when not everything goes “just as planned”. 🙂 Now I am worried about the author doing exactly this with the male lead, as the fawning has been strong in the last few chapters… 🙂

    So they are match made in heaven. Are you really sure you just feeling synpathy towards her? Absolutely not. You are so curious about her right? It makes you want to know her better and thinking what the next step will SM take. Even GY very curious that it’s not XJX personality at all. Kekekke first step of falling in love. XJX just reminiscent many interaction between both of them.

    This from the guy who said to kill her immediately, no mercy. So; it is wrong to be fond of such a young girl but OK to feel vicious to the point of taking her life? Some mixed up morality going on here for sure! Hehe!

    Really, it is such a vicious game they are playing with such high stakes that it is a wonder that they have any concerns for the finer points of relationship–such as who is too young or whom. Having watched SM for so long from the day of the contest with the bow and arrows to now, I am surprised that XJX would be suprised at how ruthless she can be or by how much she wants to survive–if only to accomplish her task. He should have more respect for her.

I’ve been going back to re-read this novel while waiting for the latest chapters and – man, I forgot how much the author likes to describe the leading man’s beauty. “Revealing half of his buff physique”, my uncle. Will she be describing his abs by the end? Other than that – reign on, Fierce Shen Miao! This is such an exciting novel.
