A cool breeze started up during the night as autumn neared, turning the weather cooler by the day. The Ding capital was in the North, making the cold more surprising.
Under the candlelight, the young female held a book, reading it slowly as she reclined against the couch. She did not realise that the tea beside her had turned cold as she continued reading her book in a trance.

When Shen Miao got out of the academy and returned to the Shen residence, the skies were becoming dark.
Shen Yue and Shen Qing did not return together with her and Shen Miao could not be bothered to care about them. Old Shen Furen had already gone to rest so she went back to the West courtyard.

Guang Wen Tang’s academy examinations were held every year during the tenth month.
The academy examinations were a test for every student in the academy, especially for the outstanding students who would be showcasing their talents. Most importantly, that day there would be many high ranking officials watching and princes looking from the side. If there were any good students, perhaps career opportunities would be available.

A young male in his early twenties walked in from the outside. He wore light robes and his features were straight. Even though his stature was slightly weak, one could tell that he was what a gentleman should look like. He walked in and praised, “That was said well. There is also dignity in love and it should not be something to be mocked. Even though Guang Wen Tang is a place for learning, it is also a place to practice one’s virtue.”
Not one of the students uttered a single word.

What was Shen Miao like?
If one were to ask the students in Guang Wen Tang, whether they were from level one, two or three, everyone would know.

Guang Wen Tang was Ding capital’s academy.
Ming Qi’s officials and the wealthy would often place their sons and daughters into Guang Wen Tang as Guang Wen Tang’s teachers were perhaps geniuses or reputable scholars of the four scholarly fields. As for young noble females, they could also enter Guang Wen Tang with pride.

Shen Qing looked at her mother with an unknowing look. Though she was unwilling, she still obediently kept her mouth shut.
Despite not understanding what was wrong with Shen Miao’s words, upon seeing Chen Rou Qiu’s nervous expression, Shen Yue became aware of what was going on and so she stood in place respectfully and no longer spoke.
