Regardless of what kind of turmoil that rose in the capital, or whatever undercurrent that was forming, from the surface there would always be singing and dancing… The annual Chrysanthemum banquet was approaching and since Guang Wen Tang’s academy examinations was very close to the Chrysanthemum banquet, both event were done together.
Unlike previous years, with this, the academy examination had become a big event as all the noble families would attend the banquet.

The residence of the Marquis of Lin An in Ding capital was indeed magnificent. This was mainly because the Marquis Furen was the Princess Yu Qing whom the late Emperor doted on most. Originally, once he became a Fuma (Princess’s husband), the Marquis of Lin An’s military power must be returned. The late Emperor was unable to withstand Princess Yu Qing’s tantrums and whining, and let things slide. This was enough to show Princess Yu Qing’s position in the late Emperor’s heart.
Princess Yu Qing was an outstanding beauty and had the most gentle and tender temperament. After marrying into the Marquis residence, she was also doted by the Marquis of Lin An. Unfortunately the Marquis of Lin An still brought in a concubine, who was the current Madam Fang.
I finished reading General On Top, I Am Below and thought to put in a short post/review of it since this novel is very memorable. There will be a drama coming out about it (which I now look forward and hope that it remains funny). A short synopsis can be found in SSB and the raw links are also available there.

A major event occurred in early October.
Su Ming Feng, the Eldest Young Master Su, the heir of the Nan Ping Bo family in the Ding capital, suddenly came down with a serious illness and had to recuperate at home. Ping Nan Bo’s heart ached for his favoured son, so he and his Furen stayed at home to take care of the Eldest Young Master Su, temporarily disregarding matters on the military horses. His Majesty bestowed some things to express his sympathy before arranging a new official to take over the management matters.

The Su family was a large clan that was a level above the other clans as only high ranking officials were able to hold the position of managing the matters of the military horse and their rations.
Su family’s status of managing the military horses was already in place since the founding of Ming Qi and was managed very well. Ping Nan Bo, Su Yu, was no exception. From his perspective, the Su family was splendid and would certainly continue on for a long time. Perhaps loyal officials would have thought that as long as one was to faithfully work, the Imperial family would not treat them unfairly.

No matter what the East courtyard did, Shen Miao still deliberately alienated the people from both the Second and Third Household. She no longer attached herself to Shen Yue and Shen Qing either. At first, everyone in Shen residence thought that she was only throwing a childish tantrum about the matter of falling into the water, but when Shen Miao started to conduct matters her own way, everyone felt that something was not right.
Gui Momo persuaded Shen Miao as usual not to be angry with the East courtyard and occasionally mentioned how Prince Ding was a peerless man in Ming Qi. But Shen Miao seemed to be unshakeable as every time Gui Momo mentioned that person, she would berate her furiously, giving Gui Momo a headache. However, the West courtyard was still filled with crafty servants from the Second and Third Household and Gu Yu and the rest thought that since Shen Miao’s temper had changed, she would rearrange the matters in the inner courtyard. Who knew that Shen Miao would actually ignore it.
