Shen Miao felt that Xie Jing Xing’s temperament was really unpredictable. There were obviously some overbearing points and when he was a youth, he had a scheming and calculative mind that adults could hardly match but currently he looked more like a youth who likes to play tricks and would tease others.

She stared at Xie Jing Xing’s flamboyant side view and her heart moved before she directly gave a kiss to Xie Jing Xing’s cheek.

XIe Jing Xing was stunned and Shen Miao diverted her gaze and looked at the sachet that was hanging at the head of the bed.

Xie Jing Xing carried her like that out the door, causing all the servants in the residence of Prince Rui to look at them. In Shen Miao’s previous lifetime, she had never been so unbridled intimate with a male. No matter if it was in the residence of Prince Ding or the Inner Palace, she would have a manner of a Empress and even if it was Mei Furen, she was also not carried by Fu Xiu Yi in front of so many people. That was a small wooden box with a carving that looked like a chicken and a snake so Luo Tan said, “One do not know why the need to carve a chicken and snake.”

Shen Miao, “…” She then said, “This is a dragon and phoenix.”

Chi Yan Taoist Priest’s carving was really not flattering and if Shen Miao did not have an understanding, one feared that she would really not be able to see that this was a dragon and phoenix. Luo Tan choked on it as Shen Miao opened the wooden box and took out two red strings out.

    • I think that seeing FXY being betrayed by the son he highly favored and also being the cause of his dinasty’s & kingdom’s demise payed a huge role into SM being able to let go. Not just them both being killed in the end, but the fact that her children’s neglect (from their father) & deaths were, somehow, paid off after the son and the woman he highly favored turned out to be his path to death.

        And this is still only in the pre-production process, so 2019 release date is impossible. If they are able to film it this year, it probably can be released late 2020 at the earliest. But cdramas in general are common with their delays, so 2021 is my guess 😶

        I know a lot of book fans are nominating xiao zhan and dilraba or xiao zhan and li qin because of fanvids on bilibili, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I think they’re going to choose rookies. Well, xz is considered one but he’s fully booked, and his ties with another production studio probably will not allow him to do other production studio’s project. Dilraba and Li Qin are obviously too big a name for this, unfortunately.

        Rookie actors could be good too, cheaper to hire so they can invest more money for the props, costumes, scripts, hiring good director, etc.

        Second: I highly hope Dilraba IS NOT chosen for the role. I liked her in certain roles but I think she’s overrated over other actresses. Yes, she is pretty, but after watching a few dramas that are supposed to have different roles for her, she ends up always putting the same few expressions.

        I don’t like Yang Mi that much either. She is fine but she’s just not as great as fans claim her to be.

        It is my opinion, of course, but I’d like it if it was someone knew.

        Also: I hope is not like the SNH48-related productions. As much as I enjoy watching those dramas, I expect a better setting and higher production. It should be on Ming Lan’s series standards (and hopefully writters not dragging the story).

It’s definitely not going to be on the same level as Minglan (produced by Daylight Entertainment, also behind Nirvana in Fire). I imagine it’ll be like Legend of Yunxi-level of production (yes, SNH48-level).

        About censorship, they’re definitely going to omit the rebirth element, just like Minglan (transmigration, right?) or another not yet aired drama Joy of Life (rebirth/reincarnation)

    • i read somewhere that (spoiler) the emperor poisoned all the other concubines so that no one could give birth, as a form of revenge. i think he does love her, but their relationship is so complicated…

  20. Started reading this novel a few days ago and finally caught up. Thankfully it was today and it had the double chapter release or else i’d have not been able to handle well.
    Finally the little Empress and Jing Xin are being more couply and soon they’ll make everyone else eat dog food hehe
    It’s been a while since I’ve followed a novel being translated but this one was just too good to pass up, and the way the translator seems to be going it will probably be finish sometime this year. Can’t wait for the happy ending! (And the promised baby)

    And it Looks like as if the emperor has started to sort out his opponents. I feel bad for the empress as she can’t have any children. She deserved to have more hapiness.

  39. I had a feeling Empress Xian De is very much loved by the Emperor. Yet he had no real strength to protect her against court matter that she is reduced to this state. Emperor Yong Le seems uncaring for his life and Empress Xian De unable to give birth. The both has great understanding that I feel they will have a tragic end of if one died the other will died (due to this understanding). They both loved each other but unable to speak the words of love since their position made the word spoken without appropriate action just appear as empty words. In a way, she said to SM, XJX is fortunate to encounter SM. XJX is XJX and Emperor Yong Le is Emperor Yong Le. Sigh. Such a pity.

The wife is basically a house manager that the husband occasionally sleeps with, while the concubine does all the flirting, dating, coaxing, seducing. Yeah, no shit the husband is going to bring in a bunch of beauties to stroke his ego when the wife is as interesting as a block of wood.
