Chapter 115: Military Power Taken Away (Part 1)

There was never a shortage of new and fresh things in the Ding capital.

The ruckus that Shen Miao created had showed the broken relationship in the Shen residence. But Shen Dong Ling really came at the right, not fearing that Old Shen Furen will place the blame on her.

Shen Miao did not speak and watched the retreating figure and shook her head thoughtfully.

After walking through the door and seeing that there was no one around, Wan YiNiang said softly, “Ling-er, what is with you just now? Why did you even dare to butter up Fifth Young Lady? Such a big event befell on the Shen family that even the commoners were alerted, so naturally the court was filled with angry an atmosphere at the moment.

    • That girl makes me cringe with anxiety as well. In previous life it was only mentioned that she was given to others by Second Shen as a bargaining chip for further Shen Gui officaldom, but didn’t mention that if she perished. So I wonder if she was actually been acting all this time so that she’d escape the Shen household unscathed, even in this life as well. But Shen Miao already declared that she would not be on a friendly term of Dong Ling no matter what. Let’s hope…this wild card not going to throw a wrench in Shen Miao plans.

    • The old general seems like a painful idiot to me for raising a songstress to a furen even though he still had Shen Xin as his Di son, wouldn’t it be fine to leave her as a concubine? If he didn’t have a Di son it would still be understandable, he should’ve just left her as a concubine like Xie Ding. Now, all these worms have crawled up proud as if they own the family but originally they came from a concubine line. Sheesh! Are all Shen family members so painfully honest and gullible? Even Shen Xin didn’t take actions until Shen Miao shoved the evidences at his face.

    How does that work?

    Had they be the ones that asked for it, could they, if not negotiated, then took all their things with them? (like in a judicial dispute)
    but if she's/they are being cast out do they lose their rights to their belongings/part of the house?

    Or this can still all be settled, and even if the fake Shens don't want to give their things back they can go to the.. elders? What was the word SM used to threat them some chs ago? I don't remember.

    With family infighting/matters having to be set out by ppl from the outside?

    • At least her mother is smart enough to recognize her own daughter’s abilities and make proper use of it. Ultimately a person doesn’t need to be especially great at doing things as long as they know how to make use of others with the right abilities.

    You mentioned about stoping more chapters for this week in order to do some edinting . I personally think it is OK, you don’t need any more work on them, they are already understandable. I think it is even better than the trasnlated version which the publisher provide publicly. Please don’t waste your time on something that won’t add up any more benefit. Especially with the current scenario, I believe, everybody agree with me. We really want to know the result ” What will happen with JeaoJeao, Can she survive the ordeal ??? I can’t wait for results….. Please add more chapters….please.

  25. Even though the chapters are rough, I suggest you continue till the time skip part before you halt. Afterall, it’s gonna be a roller coster ride for us readers at this moment. After that maybe tnyhy can continue editing. It’s understandable cuz the translations are coming out super fast and editing and translating takes time.

Ol’ Furen will end up in poverty if she keeps going on like this, but she enjoyed wayyy more than her fair share in her past years.   29. Shen Dong Ling is smarter than all of the second and third residences – including those idiotic snobs and her mother. Even SM, a jaded ex-Empress that experienced highs, lows, and horrific truths deems her “smart”. DL quite impressive, and even more so because she was sheltered and low born (significantly less resources) for her entire life.

    And then I pile up a bunch of chappies a second time for that impact. So I selfishly say unedited chappies are not really an issue for me.

  32. Ooh, very nice moves. Shen Miao puts on the show to gain the sympathy from the commoners when cutting off the Shen Songstress’s descendants. With this, there’s no possibility for sons from the old hag’s line (though Shen Miao needs to clean up Shen Wan and Shen Yue sometime).

    I guess a side effect of this is that the commoners might start suspecting Prince Ding of some underhanded stuff. He sure dares to scheme against the Empress hmm?

  34. Shen Dong Ling kinda gets on my nerves…
    Like she knows to avoid Shen Miao and everything but it feels like she’s waiting for an opportunity for SM to slip up so she can take advantage.
    Also, she calls her own mother ‘Yiniang’ in private…that kinda screams ‘untrustworthy’ to me coz her mother seems pretty docile and doesn’t seem like she would mistreat SDL.

  36. Well, I actually start to like Shen Dong Ling, she seems to be clever and not have any evil intentions. I wish she’d become a good ally for Shen Miao in the future, I have a feeling she might be almost as capable as Pei Lang.

    • Rather than smart maybe we should say, she is more conservative? She has after all, seen and experienced Ren Wan yun’s iron fist and her survival instincts kicked in, which is why she became really observant and thought multiple times before taking an action, she probably knows she needs to be aware of her surroundings if she wants to survive. In shot, she is someone with high adaptability due to the environment she was raised in.

    • I think she’s quite observant. She sees the situation exactly as it is. I suppose it’s because she was raised quietly in a corner as a Shu daughter (perhaps that was a tactic too *shrug*) she has no rose coloured glasses, no inhibitions, drama or jealousy. None of the bs attitude the Shen family has.

      Of course she’s smart but how much.. That remains to be seen. So far we’ve seen she’s really clever, letting Shen Miao do all the dirty work.
