Chapter 110: Subduing Pei Lang (Part 1)

Shen Miao gave a look to Mo Qing and he quickly took out a piece of tael and placed in on the table. Liu Ying swept her eyes at him with some anger on her face. Mo Qing was very embarrassed and Shen Miao did not plan on staying any longer, so she nodded her head to Liu Ying and left. One did not know what kind of expression did Liu Ying had on when Shen Miao left.

Only when they were out of Bao Xiang Lou’s doors, Jing Zhe said indignant, “Young Lad… Young Master has good intentions to redeem her but she did not appreciate it. Good intentions do not meet with recompense.”

Mo Qing wanted to say something but at the end endured it.

Gu Yu asked, “Young Lady, are we going back now?”

Shen Miao did not reply and did not move her body at all. Gu Yu felt somewhat strange and seeing that Shen Miao was seemingly looking at something, she followed her gaze and saw that across the street corner there stood a green clad person, who was looking at the little building of Bao Xiang Lou.

Before Gu Yu had time to speak, one saw Shen Miao lifting her feet to walk over.

Under the eaves, a green cladded male was standing straight and closely staring toward the direction of Liu Ying’s building. He was so entranced that he did not know that people walked to his side. Pei Lang watched as Shen Miao pushed a cup of wine to him and smiled, “Teacher, please have it.”

“Shen Miao.” Pei Lang directly called out her name. His expression from when he came in till now was not relaxed as he continued, “What exactly do you want?”

“Teacher Pei is unexpectedly anxious. Is not is like a cow chewing peony if one discuss about a beauty without wine?” Shen Miao looked at him calmly and unruffled in the midst of chaos.

Pei Lang felt blocked up with her words. He had been in Guang Wen Tang for several years and the people he had encountered all respected him, even the most unruly student would not use such a frivolous tone when speaking to him. If it was someone else one could let it be but unfortunately it was Shen Miao. Pei Lang had always felt that Shen Miao was not a frivolous person, so he was unable tell how things stood when she spoke like this.

Seeing that Pei Lang did not speak, Shen Miao lightly laughed. She said, “Only joked with Teacher Pei. Why is Teacher Pei this nervous?”

When she spoke those words, her eyes were clear but her gaze seemed to be teasing, it was clearly an innocent young girl appearance, but in that moment there was actually a kind of unconscious seduction that made Pei Lang’s gaze pause.

  4. I think I know who is this “Liu Ying”. She is Mei Furen… Prince Ding’s Imperial Concubine . I remember when Shen Miao said that Mei Furen have a good support because she has a brother and that brother was Pei Lan. At that time Pei Lan was a very important person to Prince Ding. Our empress wanted to cut the tree from the roots. Yup ….

    • I didn’t think about that. I’m so way off on my hypothesis down below. Hehehe! But you could be right. Too bad the author never really gave us any more clue about this Mei Furen who was sort of the catalyst to Empress Jiaojiao’s ruin in her first life. Now what the heck has she got planned for the siblings, I wonder? But wouldn’t Mei Furen would hate Prince Ding though since it is his imperial father who had caused the ruin of their family and for her to be sold to prostitution in the first place? Now I gotta wait for the answers to this. Gah!!!

      from what i read Mei furen isn’t such an easy person to just change the track because of a embroidery shop post…
      if I am not wrong she hasn’t been introduced yet… she is a big cannon fodder dealing with her will be one of best parts next to Prince ding

      “Mei Furen was an official’s daughter that Fu Xiu Yi met during his expedition to the East. He like her intelligence and sensibility and brought her back to the Palace. Mei Furen gave birth to Prince Fu Chen which was much favoured. In contrary, Shen Miao’s son, the Crown Prince Fu Ming was not favoured at all.”

      Mei Furen isn’t even from Ding country and has an established background. Liu Ying is not Mei Furen.

      • Even Pei Lang can create his new background as someone who was born in a merchant household in the Ding capital. How can he cant create something new for his own sister. Pei Lang was going to redeem his sister from brothal house and will use her for his own purpose. He really want to serve Prince Ding and it is not impossible for him to use her in that way . But anyway the author is silent about this, so let the plots lead to the answer.

    • If she was Mei Furen I doubt the empress would be this nice to her, afterall most of her hatred is focused towards her and FXY. If she saw Mei Furen most likely she would look for ways to instantly kill her or something along the line.

      • Pei lang was a person suggested to prince ding to send shen miao to other country as war prisoner and he was the one who did not do anything to stop the crown prince from being killed by prince ding ( may be he’s the one who suggested to prince ding to abolished the crown prince to make way for mei furen’s son to be the new crown prince. But in this life time, shen miao was trying to use pei lang and not kill him like others. Same thing with his sister. She tried to save her from being used by pei lang.

    • I dunno about that. I always thought, if a king takes in a wife, she should be in pure, and has a noble/prestigious family. On top of that, Lui Ying came from a rebel family and a brothel.

      • If you read other chinese story, if the emperor took concubine or consort, they will called with imperial concubine or the empress. In this story, mei furen was called ‘furen’ instead of lady mei. Furen is madam . Its impossible for prince ding to not given any title to his favourite concubine unless she was a divorcee before becoming concubine. Its make sense to cover up the fact that she was not a virgin before the marriage to prince ding. Its not common to marry a divorcee at that time especially for an emperor. Thats why i think that prince ding didnt change her title of mei furen.

    • Nah, I don’t think she’s Mei Furen. Could also be, you never know with c-novels. But for the most part, I agree with the reply below. She would hate her bro and also the emperor, who caused her troubles. And she is’t cruel, as Mei Furen is hinted to be. Also, Pei Lan won’t sell her to prince after finally saving her from prostitution. Unless, of course, she wants a life of luxury. But as I said, I don’t think she’s that kind of person. In fact, I kinda ship her with Mo Qing. But then again, how does shen miao know about his past and separated sister, I would guess Pei Lan must have kept it a secret.

I really do and he has probably already sold about 50% of himself to Prince Ding, so Shen Miao trying to dangle his sister in front of him is one way to pull on his leash away from the toxic prince. Or pull him away and throw him to do the dogs, kind of like all the people who had died already in her hands. It doesn’t seem like Pei Lang is bad, but I’m wondering what Empress Jiaojiao has planned for him. Man… it’s one plot after another. Eep!

  17. Omg. The mystery just became deeper. I feel like the sudden twist and revelations happening is like an approaching sandstorm, it gets bigger and bigger and even if you run and think that oasis is at sight they’ll throw you into a loop and once your caught it’s all too late. Shen Miao is definitely the one brewing that sandstorm and those she targets will have no way of getting out of that loop.

    Aaaaand I love how XJX and co are there as if some sort of observer. When it is so obvious that XJX is the one most curious of Shen Miao😝 thank you so much for the chapter!!

  36. Could it be that SM will use Pei Lang to infiltrate FXY and use the sister as hostage to do her bidding? Because it doesn’t make sense to pull him just to keep from being his people. There’s no payoff.
